Among the best-known beach locations is also Royal Caribbean's exclusive beach resort "Royal Palms Beach Club". Family-friendly Activities & Attractions in Grand Cayman
Seven Mile Beach is one of the most popular beaches in Grand Cayman, and is absolutely beautiful! It’s one of my favorite beaches ever, with mild waves, white sand, and nice clear blue water. If you just want to enjoy some beach time, an excursion at Seven Mile Beach is a great option.

If you want to get up close with some majestic sea turtles, the Cayman Turtle Center is a must-visit. It’s situated in the northernmost area of the island within the West Bay district, right next to Dolphin Discovery. Camana Bay stands out as the go-to shopping hub—a lively waterfront district with a variety of different shops.
Popular Travel Advice
While US dollars are widely accepted, the official currency of the Cayman Islands is the Cayman Islands dollar (CI$). As a cruise passenger, it’s recommended to just use US dollars instead of exchanging cash. Beach chairs on Rum Point are offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

But the main attraction is really the Sea Trek Experience on the lower deck of the restaurant - here you can safely and comfortably explore the underwater world with a helmet diving system. A typical and famous Cayman souvenir shop - TooHot - and the famous artist Guy Harvey's gallery are next to each other and right after Hard Rock. Buses are small vans but with air condition, clean, inexpensive and everyone is very friendly - in fact, you will find that many visitors to Grand Cayman use the Public Bus services. Buses to the Seven Mile Beach depart every 10 to 15 minutes and cost US$ 2.50 per person each way.
Shopping in George Town Near the Cruise Port
There is no Wi-Fi available at the cruise port, but there are several shops and restaurants nearby that offer it for customers. The Owen Roberts International Airport is about a 10-minute drive from the Grand Cayman Cruise Port. The easiest way to get to the cruise port from the airport is by taxi or pre-booked direct transfer, which includes privately-operated buses. Less than a minute walk from there you will spot the main town square – the Heroes Square, featuring fountains, sculptures, and a monument to the National Heroes of Grand Cayman.
Some of the highlights on the menu include nachos, burgers with fries, and eggs Benedict. Venture to the third floor to discover the Harbour View Rum Bar, which boasts an extensive selection of 40 rum varieties sourced from around the Caribbean. Gelato & Co is an excellent place to stop by and enjoy some authentic Italian gelato. Crafted entirely by hand, the gelato comes in a diverse range of flavors, including mango, strawberry, coconut, and vanilla. You’ll find Gelato & Co at The Island Plaza, just a short three minute walk from the cruise pier in George Town.
There are some public buses as well, should you decide to go that route. When coming into Grand Cayman by cruise ship, you’ll often have from about 9-4 pm on shore. Factor in lining up and taking a tender back to your ship, and this makes the day a bit limited on time. For this reason, cruisers have to be especially time conscious when planning their day and activities in Grand Cayman. When your tender boat drops you off, you’ll be at one of Grand Cayman’s 3 cruise terminals. However, each is in very close walking distance of main town, Georgetown.
Current Local Time
Instead, cruise ships must anchor in specific sports just outside of Georgetown, Grand Cayman’s capital. During one of my trips to Grand Cayman, our excursion to Stingray City also included some time to snorkel. The Grand Cayman waters offer some fantastic places to snorkel, where you can see colorful fish, turtles, and coral reefs. This means that the ship will stay in the water and will not be alongside a dock. You’ll take small boats from the cruise ship to one of three cruise ship terminals. For a unique and unforgettable experience during your visit to Grand Cayman, make sure to visit Starfish Point.
Rackam's Bar and Grill is just a few meters away and is one of the Editor's favorite stops in George Town. On the ocean side, with a spectacular location and view, Paradise is both a restaurant (cuisine doesn't match the quality of the location) and shore diving and snorkeling spot. Around 120 yards/meters south of Paradise, you will find Eden Rock Diving Center - one of the best dives in Cayman - and 300 yards/meters farther, another diving center (Don Foster's Dive).
Starfish Point offers a unique opportunity to not only observe the starfish but also interact with them. Remember to handle the starfish with care and avoid lifting them out of the water. Gently touch the starfish’s hard but smooth skin, marveling at their intricate patterns and feeling the gentle suction of their tube feet as they move across your hand. Take a leisurely walk along the shore and keep your eyes peeled for these mesmerizing creatures.
Or explore the USS Kittiwake, a submarine rescue vessel that was scuttled in 2011 to create an artificial reef, now populated by eagle rays and groupers. The highest part of the wreck is just 15 feet below the surface, so experienced snorkelers can dive down as far as the wheelhouse. The Grand Cayman cruise port offers numerous shops and restaurants for visitors. Whether you’re looking for souvenirs, jewelry, clothing, or gifts, you’ll find them at one of the stores and boutiques in the area. Grand Cayman is a paradise for scuba diving and snorkeling enthusiasts. While here for a cruise day in port, don’t miss out on exploring the wonder of the USS Kittiwake and the haunting beauty of the Wreck of The Gamma.
Step into the modern, state-of-the-art theater and watch a captivating audiovisual presentation that brings the story of the Cayman Islands to life. Through stunning visuals, audio narration, and historical footage, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of the struggles, triumphs, and cultural heritage of the Caymanian people. If you’re feeling more adventurous, try your hand at kayaking or paddleboarding. Rent a kayak or paddleboard from one of the beach hut operators and embark on a peaceful journey along the coastline. Paddle through the calm waters, taking in the beautiful surroundings and enjoying the tranquility of the area.
If you don’t have an excursion booked but still want to get off the ship, you can always walk around the port area. During our day stay, we had a hotel room and could use the pool and beach throughout the day. It was a great way to get some time on Seven Mile Beach and have the opportunity to shower before returning to the ship. If you are purchasing tickets to the Cayman Turtle Centre, you’ll find two separate options for tickets – the Turtle Safari and the Turtle Adventure.
